Weight Management: What a Bargain!

Hello, Weight Watchers! Did last week's meeting give you some quick and easy meal ideas to bust yourself out of a food rut? You can cook healthy meals at home; it just takes a little preparation and brainstorming.

LEADER OF THE PACK
Are you a Lifetime member at or near your goal weight? Are you interested in earning some extra money while inspiring others to reach their weight-loss goals? If so, Weight Watchers needs YOU! Please plan on attending the Open Information Session at the Castleton WW Center Monday, May 5 at 5pm to find out more about our great Leader and Receptionist opportunities!

PRODUCT NEWS
The new Sizzle It cookbook is HERE! This new $10 cookbook features 140 Flex and Core recipes (over 50 for Corbies - a new record!), great marinades, and a handy How-to-Grill guide! It's perfect for summer celebrations or everyday. Feel free to flip through a copy at your meeting soon - the seasonal cookbooks never last long!

Sadly, it has been announced that we will be saying goodbye to the VERY popular Shortcuts cookbook and the Orange Creme Twist smoothie. Most meetings still have some in stock, so get 'em before they disappear for good!

Congratulations to all who competed in the Mini Marathon and 500 Festival 5k this weekend!

ARTICLES OF NOTE

If I had a nickel for every time I've heard, "Well, I can't do Weight Watchers because healthy food is so much more expensive..." I contend that it DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SO! With a little strategic shopping (or just smaller portions - this will make any food last longer), you can save money and lose weight at the same time! Healthy living provides both short- and long-term savings - come this week to find out what they are!

Have a great week, everyone!

Perfect Burgers with All the Fixings
Serves 4 | 6 POINTS
From the new Sizzle It cookbook

1 lb lean ground beef
3 T minced onion
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t salt
1/4 t black pepper
4 multigrain hamburger buns
4 green lettuce leaves
4 thin slices red onion
4 T ketchup

  • Spray the grill rack with nonstick spray. Preheat the grill to medium-high or prepare a medium-high fire using the direct method (described on page 13).
  • Meanwhile, combine the beef, minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. With damp hands, shape the mixture into four 1/2" thick patties.
  • Place the patties on the grill rack and grill until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the side of a burger registers 160 F for well done, about 5 min on each side.
  • Place the burgers on the bottoms of the buns and top each with one lettuce leaf, one onion slice, and 1 T ketchup.
