LOSE FOR GOOD
Lose for Good is in full swing and, so far, a huge success! My members bought 113 pounds of food for the hungry this week alone! Keep up the good work!
Don't forget that every existing member who brings a friend to join any traditional, traveling, or At-Work meeting will receive an instant free gift (while supplies last)! Even better, each new member equals even more food donated to Action Against Hunger and Share Our Strength!
Danville members - Mary Williams from Sheltering Wings will be collecting our donations at the October 15 meeting. Please check out their Wish List and double the good for victims of domestic violence in our area!
PANIC BUTTON
When I first started with WW Online, there was a big orange Panic button on the homepage. You could click it when you were feeling out of control, and it linked to coping mechanisms for stress, motivation, and advice. Sadly, the original Panic button is long gone (but look - I found the page it linked to, though it appears to be part of the eTools subscription), but I would like to feature some of the same kinds of things in a weekly feature here. Please let me know if there's a particular question or topic you would like to see addressed.
eTOOLS TIPS
Did you know that members who use eTools (the online companion to Weight Watchers meetings) lose 50% more weight than those attending weekly meetings alone? (It's an added bonus, as members who attend weekly meetings lose three times as much weight as those who go it alone!)
As a meetings member, you qualify for a discounted eTools rate. The best deal is to purchase a Monthly Pass (traditional members) or join a 17-week At-Work series in the first two weeks of the series. These members get eTools for free! If neither of these applies in your case, look in your Week One packet for a red card with an access code. eTools can be purchased separately for $12.95 per month or three months for $29.95. (Tip: You must re-select the three-month savings plan after each payment or it will revert to charging you monthly for the next billing cycle.)
eTools has tons of great features, but my favorites by far are the Core planner (POINTS Tracker for Flex members) and Recipe Builder. I have 24/7 worldwide access to Weight Watcher's most extensive POINTS database and I journal with it every single day (even when I was in Germany!). The Recipe Builder allows me to enter my own recipes and calculates the POINTS values per serving for me. There is also a feature that will help you lighten up your family favorites.
WEIGHT WATCHERS FAMILY
We have an exciting new opportunity for all parents or caregivers interested in helping their families live a healthier lifestyle!
Indianapolis is one of only a few exclusive locations that has been chosen to offer Weight Watchers Family, a pilot seminar for adults only that helps parents create a healthy-weight home for the entire family. Participants will learn five simple rules, based on the latest scientific information about weight management for kids, along with real-world tips and strategies to implement them.
Parents and caregivers can attend the Weight Watchers Family session where they'll talk with other parents who share their concerns, receive special program materials, and are given the link to a special Weight Watchers Fmily section of our website with an online message board and additional content.
The seminar will be offered on October 5 at the Indianapolis Southside WW Center from 3-6:30 pm and October 18 at the Indianapolis Castleton WW Center from 1-4:30 pm.
The cost is $29.95, which includes seminar registration for two adults and a copy of the Family Power book, written by the Weight Watchers Chief Scientific Officer, Karen Miller Kovach. Anyone interested in attending can contact me or call (800) 852-1917, ext. 2603 to make your reservation. Space is limited - make your reservation today!
ARTICLES OF NOTE
This week, we will be discussing the benefits of dancing and other recreational activities as enjoyable ways to Move More. Music makes a great background for activity and can inspire and motivate us. We will get into the Add 2 leaflet and see how many Activity POINTS values we can earn by simply doing some of our favorite activities!
Have a great week, everyone!
